Well, March Madness might be over but I just now got into basketball – sugar cookie basketball. Honestly, I’m surprised I even know about March Madness since I am not a basketball fan. In fact, when I was in high school my father and mother would drag me to the college basketball games and I would actually take my homework and do it at the game.
Rather than leave the icing smooth, I decided to add some texture to it to make it look more like a basketball – so I added dots of frosting. In case any of you are wondering, these cookies are large and it took me 7 minutes to add the dots. Was it worth the time?
The above lone sugar cookie basketball was an extra one I made for this cookie bouquet:
For some reason the stick came out of the cookie. I can’t decide if it was because the cookie wasn’t cooked enough or if the stick wasn’t deep enough in the dough. Perhaps it was a combination of the two. All I know is that I am glad that I always make an extra sugar cookie on a stick when I’m doing a bouquet. This one came off the stick as I was assembling the bouquet and so I was quite nervous as I continued putting the bouquet together knowing that I didn’t have that extra sugar cookie basketball. And don’t worry, the lone sugar cookie will not go to waste. Well, that’s not entirely true – it will go to waist — my waist!
